12oz bag, whole bean.

An oasis is exactly where you find yourself when you drink this coffee. It’s a beautifully clean and crisp cup, with notes of berry, dark cherry, fragrant sweet almond, and a lasting nutmeg spice finish. Producer Luz Mila Gonzalez is a member of the Association of Indigenous Coffeegrowers of the San Pedro Reservation.  It is a group of indigenous farmers from the pre-columbian Nasa We’sx tribe of the Paez nation that live and grow coffee organically and traditionally in peace on land set aside for them by the government to live sovereignly.  Caught in the middle of fighting between several armed groups for the last 50 years, they signed an informal peace treaty with the FARC in 1996 when the situation was at its worst and have been able to mind their own business since.  By supporting this group of growers we are supporting peace in rural Colombia, small-scale organic agriculture as a sustainable economic alternative, and helping to preserve the threatened indigenous traditions of the Paez people.

This coffee is grown organically, no synthetic substances were used in cultivation or soil management. It is also grown under full shade of native trees. This lot does not carry organic certification however.
